Our facilitators are hand-picked to be the most magical, inspiring, open-minded, good-humoured humans they could possibly be, and they are the reason your workshop experience will be like none you've ever had before. May we introduce:
Alexa Gilker - Whitespace Writers Founder & Facilitator, Calgary, AB
Alexa Gilker is a screenwriter, producer, and poet working in Canada and abroad with the sole goal to explore truth through story. She has her BFA in Creative Writing from the University of Victoria, and an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Guelph. Alexa worked as a college writing and film instructor in Toronto before moving back to YYC and taking that horrifyingly scary leap to writing full-time, but missed writing workshops so much she started Whitespace Writers in 2016. For more about where Alexa got her deep-rooted passion for helping aspiring writers find their authentic voice and tell their stories, take a read through this post HERE.
Paige Leigh Reist - Facilitator, Calgary, AB
Paige Leigh Reist is a writer, journalist, and the blogger behind The Wholesome Handbook. In her work, she celebrates the poetic in the seemingly mundane, the beauty of broken things, and the wisdom of the natural world. After studying music, photography, design, painting, comparative religion, and social anthropology, Paige finally came to her senses and began writing full-time in 2016. You can see her personal work HERE.
