Want to write in a window seat covered in furry blankets, snuggled next to candles and a roaring fireplace, gazing out floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the snowy Rocky mountains, while drinking coffee and hot chocolate and hanging out with new writing friends????

Yeah. Us too.

Join us for our first SINGLE DAY writing workshop in a gorgeous mountain house in Canmore, AB. For each workshop, we’ll pick a writing theme and delve in using our signature Whitespace Writers writing prompts, takin’ you back and down and in and through the depths of your imagination, unearthing stories you didn’t even know you had.

DECEMBER WORKSHOP THEME: MEMOIR
You don’t have to have an insane life story involving running away with the circus to write your memoirs. As Flannery O’Connor says: anyone who has survived their childhood has enough [writing] material to last them a lifetime. Through several writing prompts, you’ll dig into moments and memories you may or may not even remember, with the goal of discovering where your personal story best begins.

WHO IS THIS FOR?
If you’ve been wanting to check out what we’re all about here, these single day workshops are perfect for you to try our workshop style, see magic stories come to life from your own brain, and spend a little you-time flexing your writing muscle, not matter how long it’s been since the last time ya flexed. And if you’re a Whitespace veteran, get your butt over here and sign up!! We miss you! Come hang out and write!

WHAT
The workshop runs out of a gorgeous mountain house in Canmore, AB, in one of the communities furthest up the mountain (which means unimpeded mountain views for us!). There is free parking on the street outside, though we encourage car-pooling. The workshop runs from 10am-6pm with a one hour break for lunch. We encourage you to bring your own lunch, since we are legit up the mountain and you’ll want to hunker down, but there is a cafe somewhat nearby (5 min drive) if you don’t. Coffee, tea, and snacks will be provided, along with the snuggliest most docile dog you’ve ever met, ironically named Chaos. Bring a notebook and pen to write with if you can. Bring extra snuggly blankets if you wanna.
